How many people were outside enjoying the weekend in Oregon

If you were outside this weekend enjoying the fresh air and your first weekend free, let's hope you were doing it legally. According to sources, there were about 200k people in the national parks, some that were open legally, but most that were still closed to the public, which is illegal. Did you break the law set by the government? If you took a road trip this weekend, you noticed more people outside than normal. This was due to the governor relaxing the stay-at-home order for 5 of the national parks that are well known and traveled to during this time of year.

There was a lot of people at the open national parks in Oregon this weekend, but even more at the closed national parks. Traveling up and down the coast alone and you'd see anywhere from a thousand to two thousand people on the beaches. If you went inward towards Eugene towards Blue Pool, you saw anywhere from 20 - 75 cars parked on the sides of the road at closed parks. Each car holds anywhere from 1 - 5 people, so you do the math. Going further inward, if you went towards Bend and Madras where some of the lakes are located, you saw anywhere from 100 - 500 cars parked. This isn't counting the magnitude of vehicles on the roads driving to the destinations in Oregon.

If you were driving any of the highways west of Multinomah Falls, you would have thought you were in a normal year. In some locations there were so many vehicles on the roads, that traffic was stop-and-go. This surge of vacationers and people going out to these locations is great for the local economy.

If you're going to go outside, do it responsibly. There are people just like you and I that work for the national parks that have to shelter in place because they are ordered to do so that cannot take care of the national parks that are closed, so when they have to come out to take care of them because people have decided to start "breaking & entering" a closed site, it puts them and their families at risk.

Moral of the story is, Respect the law and your fellow Humans.
